Where Can I Serve?
Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Our Savior’s is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Our Savior’s members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as washing communion cups to chaperones on mission trips.
Our Savior’s is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. Two of our missionaries are in Hong Kong and we support our Imbaseny Parish in Tanzania. Last year a small team from our church traveled to Tanzania to assist our Imbaseny Parish in practical projects and evangelistic outreach. We also supported one of our youth in a year long project in Malaysia. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community. Some of our community outreach programs are Hope Center, Family Promise of Western Waukesha County, Loaves and Fishes, Bread of Life, Salvation Army, and Campus Crusade for Christ in La Crosse. There is a place for you to get involved.
Music & Drama
God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music and drama ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir or our praise ringers. Still others get involved in drama. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of Our Savior’s, using their talents and gifts to glorify God. Visit our Music Ministries page to see how you can get involved.
The usher team at Our Savior’s fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, handing out the weekly worship bulletins, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life. To join a team, click here for Serving in Worship information.
Media & Technology
Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. You may see video clips from DVDs that are relevant to the sermon or u-tube videos or even power point presentations now and then. We also maintain an active Facebook for additional church communication.
Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Our Savior’s is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, during the morning service, a team of volunteers is praying for the ministry of the Word. Throughout the week, volunteers to our Prayer Warriors team, pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs. If you have a prayer request, feel free to contact the office at 262-367-6000 or our Prayer Team Coordinator, Carolyn Taylor at 262-367-7124 or262-367-6000. Click here for our Prayer Request form.
In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, Our Savior’s holds a children’s sermon in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our Youth and Family Minister provides a short message that can be fun and interactive.
Church Family Nights in August
Each summer, Our Savior’s offers Wednesday night services in August, that are fun and casual (shorts are welcomed). We meet for light suppers like picnics or barbeques and then follow it with a 30-45 minute worship service.
