Milestone Moments
Communion
2 different classes offered:
(1) Bread of Heaven Workshop - For all children and their families who are inquisitive on the sacrament of Holy Communion. Communion bread is prepared by the children. This workshop is held in the fall on a Sunday following the second service. A light lunch is provided.
(2) Cup of Blessing Class - A one hour class held two consecutive Sundays for children 2nd grade and up with their parents to learn more about the Lord’s Supper and decorate a traditional OSELC Communion goblet. Children attending receive a special Holy Communion Blessing on Maundy Thursday.
Confirmation
Our Confirmation Program is a pastoral and educational ministry of the church through which young people:
1) Learn to become life-long students of the Bible as they master a basic understanding of the content of the Old and New Testaments.
2) Learn tools of Christian living as they master a basic understanding of Christian theology and ethics through the study of Luther's Small Catechism and the discussion of current topics with their peers and older, wiser Christian mentors.
3) The completion of the confirmation years is celebrated with a public commitment and the laying on of hands in the Rite of the Affirmation of Baptism (The Rite of Confirmation).
