Our Savior’s Lutheran Church has never been closed! During the nearly 3 months of “Stay at Home” we transitioned to a fully digital worship life together in order to keep each other and our neighbors safer, yet never missed a Sunday of preaching the Good News of Jesus to all with ears to hear. We then transitioned into a phase of parking lot services, while refining and honing what has become our Digital Campus. Beginning in October 2020 we tried our hand at in person indoor worship, and after helpful feedback we were able to evolve by November 2020 into the indoor service with socially distant seating, congregationally spoken worship responses, and music provided from our Digital Campus. In April of ’21 we were excited to move into our Outdoor Worship Season, singing together with more worshipers present on campus out in the backyard.

As the school year has begun anew, we now return to our Sanctuary and many of the familiar things that have made worship feel like home for many of you. There are still a number of ways you can participate in a more “hybrid” way if that is how you or your family feel called to engage.

As a community we have prioritized the health of our most vulnerable members, following Jesus’ example. While our individual response to Covid-19 and our willingness to engage in community activities, wear masks in public, etc. may differ, as our community we’ve agreed that together, we will take a careful, measured approach and continue to care for one another by maintaining physical distancing, and although mask use is no longer required here, some members and staff may continue to wear them, based on their personal decisions.

“Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.” — 1st John 3:18

How Did we get here?

Our Leadership team has been meeting regularly, praying together, and together as a group creating what we feel is our best path forward.  We’ve been studying materials from a number of sources, consulting medical professionals in the field of epidemiology and working closely with our denominational resources from the ELCA as we have developed this plan.  As a leadership team and as a staff, we have agreed that a careful, measured approach is the best way to care for one another as we come back together.  Below is a list of many resources that have been among our resources to consult, and you may wish to do more extended reading to discover some of the “whys” behind our plan.

FAQ

Fear not! If you don’t have yours with you we have many styles and options available for you, grab one that works for you. After church you can then keep it for next time.

We are so glad you asked! As you might imagine we will need LOTS of volunteers, as always it is our people that make this church what it is. For those comfortable in stepping back into volunteer roles, we need readers, ushers, some more “deep cleaning” tasks during the week, and even tech help for with the digital campus if that is your thing!

No you do not! We have LOTS of seats in the sanctuary (actually more than pre-covid) so there are plenty of options to find a seat that will give you the space you are looking for. When in person worship attendance starts to push near capacity, we will again add a second worship service so there is space for everyone.

Any of your Leadership Team or the Pastors would be happy to try to answer your questions, especially in this time. We are regularly discussing and weighing the best information available to us at the time.
