Baptisms
Holy Baptism at Our Savior's
Holy Baptism is a joyful celebration of God's love and grace. Through water and God's Word, we are welcomed into God's family, united with Christ, and called to a lifelong journey of faith.
At Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church, baptisms are typically celebrated during worship so that the congregation can welcome and support the newly baptized and their family. We invite children, youth, and adults of all ages to receive the gift of Baptism.
As part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), we believe Baptism is God's gift of grace, marking the beginning of a life centered in worship, learning, service, and discipleship.
Everyone Is Welcome
You do not need to be a member of Our Savior's to be baptized here. We welcome anyone seeking Baptism and would be honored to walk alongside you in your faith journey.
What Happens During the Baptism Service?
During worship:
-
Parents and sponsors make promises to support the baptized person in faith.
-
The congregation promises its prayers and encouragement.
-
Water is poured as the pastor baptizes in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
-
The newly baptized is welcomed into the family of God.
-
A baptism certificate is presented.
The service is simple, meaningful, and filled with God's promises.
